Tongass National forest
The Tongass National Forest is the biggest forest in the United States! It is in Juneau, Alaska. If you love trees and really want to see thousands of Sitka Spruce trees, come to the Tongass National Forest.! It has hundreds of unique, beautiful plants and creatures.
There are a few common trees in the Tongass, such as Sitka Spruce, Western Hemlock, Western Red Cedar and Alaskan (yellow) Cedar. The trees I just shared with you are prized for their durability, beauty and usefulness.
There are many, many bodies of water in Tongass National Forest. A couple of them are Nugget Creek, Taku River, Icy Strait and many others. Do you like learning about the many bodies of water? There are many animals in the Tongass. The common ones are bears, wolves, sitka black-tailed deer, five kinds of pacific salmon and bald eagles. But there are also unusual animals you may have never heard of before like Northern Goshawks or Marbled Murrelets.

Our beautiful, beloved forest was created a national forest by Theodore Roosevelt. So you have him to thank for a beautiful national forest.
